During the 2017 Legislative Session, we worked with the American Cancer Society, Cancer Action Network and the American Heart Association to pass LB 323, the Palliative Care and Quality of Life Act. This Act creates the Palliative Care Consumer and Professional Information and Education Program along with the Palliative Care and Quality of Life Advisory Council.
Through the passage of this legislation, the Department of Health and Human Services now provides information pertaining to palliative care on their website, including the following: continuing education opportunities for healthcare professionals, delivery of palliative care in the home, best practices, educational materials, and referral information for hospice and palliative care.
