In 2008, American Communications Group worked with a large coalition of healthcare groups, public health entities, and business groups to pass the Nebraska Clean Indoor Air Act. The purpose of the Nebraska Clean Indoor Air Act has been to protect the health of all Nebraska residents and visitors by prohibiting smoking in public places and places of employment.
The Act eliminated smoking in enclosed indoor areas including restaurants, bars, horse racing venues and other workplaces (retail/office space, manufacturing, etc.) as well as indoor public places. This has now been done in a number of states but Nebraska was an early adopter and leader in this legislation. The coordinated effort merging health interests, workplace wellness and business interests have also become a model that American Communications Group and others in Nebraska have followed to pass major legislation.
